Wood Veneer or Solid Wood?
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing quality furniture. From a distance, it can be difficult to tell the difference between a real wood veneer desk and a solid wood one. The look and the feel is very similar. This is because a veneer is a thin slice of the real wood (in this case Walnut) applied to a 25mm MDF core. Real wood edging is used on our veneer desk tops to complete the natural finish. The result is a great looking and natural feeling desk topwhich is more affordable than solid wood and isn't prone to the ageing effects. Veneers also maximise the use that can be made of the wood raw material - therefore reducing environmental impact.
Solid wood is exactly what it says - the natural timber sanded and shaped into our completed desk top. It is long lasting, can be repaired or restored easily, and close up has the look and feel of a prestige item of furniture. Solid wood items are often passed from generation to generation and if kept correctly, the look improves with age.
